Technical Troubleshooting
I help businesses in Brighton and across the UK diagnose and fix issues with their WordPress websites. From 500 server errors and white screens to broken forms, database problems, and issues caused by theme or plugin updates, I can identify the root cause and get your site working properly again.
Expert Help When Your Website Is Not Working Properly
When something goes wrong with your website, it can be incredibly stressful. Visitors cannot reach your pages, enquiries stop coming through, and revenue is potentially being lost by the hour. Worse still, the cause of the problem is often unclear, and the error messages displayed are rarely helpful to anyone without a technical background.
I have spent more than 20 years building, managing, and troubleshooting issues with websites, and I have seen (and fixed) almost all the common problems that arise with WordPress. Whether your site has suddenly stopped working after a core or theme update, displays a cryptic error message, or is simply behaving in unexpected ways, I can help you get things back on track.
For assistance with troubleshooting website issues and bug fixes, simply send me a message using my quick contact form.
Website Support From £50 Per Hour

Resolving Technical Issues With Your WordPress Website
WordPress powers a significant proportion of the websites on the internet, and it is the content management system I know inside out. Over the years, I have resolved countless issues on WordPress sites of all shapes and sizes, from simple brochure sites to large WooCommerce stores and complex custom builds.
Common issues I can help diagnose and fix include:
- 500 internal server errors – often caused by plugin conflicts, corrupt .htaccess files, or PHP memory limits.
- The dreaded white screen of death – where your site loads to a blank page with no error message.
- Problems following theme or plugin updates – including compatibility issues, broken layouts, and lost functionality.
- Website forms not working or failing to deliver – whether the issue is with Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, WPForms, or another plugin.
- Database errors – including “error establishing a database connection” messages and corrupt database tables.
- Broken redirects and redirect loops – which can prevent pages from loading and damage your SEO.
- 404 errors on pages that should be working – often caused by permalink issues or botched migrations.
- Slow page load times and performance issues – including high server response times and Core Web Vitals failures.
- Mixed content warnings and SSL issues – where your site is not loading securely.
- Hacked or malware-infected sites – including cleanup, security hardening, and restoration from backups.
- Admin login problems – where you have been locked out of the WordPress dashboard.
- Image upload errors and media library issues.
If the issue you are experiencing is not on the list above, please get in touch and let me know what is happening. The chances are I have come across it before.

Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the common questions I am asked about this service.
Can you fix issues on a WordPress site that you did not build?
Yes. Most of the troubleshooting work I do is on WordPress sites that were originally built by someone else. I will start by reviewing the site and its hosting environment to identify what has gone wrong, then agree on a sensible plan to fix it.
What if you cannot fix the issue?
If an issue falls outside my area of expertise, I will be upfront about it and, where possible, recommend a trusted specialist who can help. I will not charge you for time spent on work I cannot complete.
Do you work on sites built in platforms other than WordPress?
WordPress is my specialism, but I also have experience troubleshooting issues on Shopify, Drupal, and other content management systems. If you are on a different platform, please get in touch and I will let you know if I can help.
Will you need admin access to my site?
Yes. To diagnose and fix issues effectively, I will usually need administrator access to your WordPress dashboard, your hosting logins and SFTP details.
Do you offer a guarantee that the issue will stay fixed?
Once an issue has been resolved, I will explain what caused it and what can be done to prevent it from happening again. However, websites are complex, and new issues can always arise, particularly if updates are applied without proper testing. My monthly WordPress support and maintenance service is the best way to minimise the risk of future problems.
Are you available to meet in person?
Yes. If you are based in Brighton or Hove, I am happy to meet you for a coffee or visit your workplace. For clients further afield, we can discuss the issues via phone or a video call.
