On-Page SEO Services
My on-page SEO services help businesses improve the visibility of their websites in both traditional and AI-generated search results. The process usually starts with a detailed website audit, through which I identify the specific issues holding your site back and recommend the steps needed to strengthen your website’s foundations.
Expert Help with Every Aspect of On-Page SEO
On-page SEO is the practice of optimising the content and code of individual web pages so that they rank well in search engines and deliver a good experience for visitors. Done properly, it covers everything from keyword research and content quality to title tags, heading structure, internal linking, and schema markup. Done poorly (or not at all), it can seriously limit the visibility of even the most well-built websites.
Over a career spanning more than 20 years, I have helped hundreds of businesses improve the on-page SEO of their websites, whether that means refining existing pages, optimising new content before it goes live, or planning the on-page approach for a complete rebuild. From my base in Brighton, I work with companies across the UK and internationally.

Arranging a Website Audit
Effective on-page SEO is only possible once you have a clear picture of how your existing pages are performing, where the gaps are, and which opportunities are worth pursuing. For this reason, my work with new clients almost always starts with one of my website audits.
Depending on the nature of the issues, this might be a Technical SEO Audit, a Content & UX Audit, or a combination of the two. The audit provides a prioritised list of on-page improvements tailored to your business, your market, and your objectives, which we can then work through together.
One of the most talented SEOs I’ve worked with. James’ audits are so insightful, well-written and informative.
What My On-Page SEO Service Covers
Every website is different, and the right focus for your on-page SEO work will depend on your goals and the issues uncovered during the audit. The areas I regularly assist clients with include:
Keyword research and strategy
Good on-page SEO starts with understanding what your target audience is actually searching for, and how competitive those searches are. I carry out thorough keyword research to identify the terms, questions, and topics worth targeting, then map them to the most appropriate pages on your site. Where there are gaps, I will recommend new pages or content to fill them.
Title tags and meta descriptions
Title tags and meta descriptions are often the first thing a potential visitor sees in the search results. I will review and rewrite these to make sure they are relevant, compelling, and aligned with the search intent of your target keywords.
Heading structure and on-page hierarchy
A well-structured page, with a clear H1 and a logical hierarchy of H2s, H3s, and so on, helps both search engines and users understand the content. I will assess your existing heading structure and refine it where needed, ensuring each page is clearly organised and easy to follow.
Content quality and E-E-A-T
Search engines increasingly reward content that demonstrates Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (commonly known as E-E-A-T). I will assess the quality of your existing content against these principles, identify pages that need strengthening, and recommend improvements. This might include adding author bios, refining key pages to demonstrate first-hand experience, or updating older content to keep it accurate and relevant.
Image optimisation
Images affect both user experience and SEO. I will help you optimise images across your site, including compressing files for faster loading, adding descriptive alt text for accessibility and search, using appropriate file names, and ensuring modern image formats are used where possible.
Internal and external linking
Internal linking is one of the most underused elements of on-page SEO. I will review how pages across your site link to one another, strengthen the internal links to your most important pages, and identify opportunities to link out to credible external sources where appropriate.
Mobile-friendliness and user experience
With most searches now happening on mobile devices, the mobile experience of your site plays a significant role in how it performs in search. I will review your site on mobile and desktop, flag any usability or layout issues, and recommend improvements to make sure your pages work well across all screen sizes.
SEO copywriting
For clients who need support creating new content or updating existing content to perform better in search, I provide SEO copywriting services. This includes landing pages, blog posts, product and service pages, and supporting content, all written with search intent, E-E-A-T, and conversion in mind.
Structured data and schema markup
Structured data helps search engines understand the content on your pages and can improve how your listings appear in search results. I help clients implement, test, and refine schema markup for articles, products, FAQs, reviews, local businesses, events, and more, ensuring it is correctly validated and aligned with Google’s guidelines.

Frequently Asked Questions
Some of the common questions I am asked about this service.
Do I need a website audit before we start?
In almost all cases, yes. A website audit gives us both a clear understanding of what is affecting your site’s performance and what needs to be prioritised. Without an audit and keyword research, any on-page work risks becoming guesswork.
What is the difference between on-page and technical SEO?
On-page SEO focuses on the elements that make up individual pages, such as content, title tags, heading structure, internal linking, and image optimisation. Technical SEO focuses on the underlying infrastructure of the site, such as crawlability, indexation, site performance, and structured data. There is some natural overlap between the two, and most clients benefit from a combined approach. You can read more about my technical SEO services here.
Do you write content as part of the service?
Yes. For clients who need help creating new content or updating existing content to perform better in search, I provide SEO copywriting as part of my on-page SEO service. I write with search intent, E-E-A-T, and conversion in mind, rather than simply stuffing in keywords.
How long does it take to see results from on-page SEO work?
It depends on the starting point, the scale of the changes being made, and how competitive your niche is. Some improvements, such as refining title tags and meta descriptions on high-traffic pages, can show results quickly. More substantial work, such as restructuring content or addressing E-E-A-T concerns on a larger site, may take many months to fully take effect.
Can on-page SEO be combined with technical SEO and other services?
Yes, and for most clients this is the best approach. On-page SEO rarely exists in isolation, and the best results come from a joined-up strategy that addresses technical, on-page, and (where relevant) off-page factors together. My monthly retainers are tailored around exactly this, so you can combine on-page work with technical SEO, content planning, copywriting, and more.
